Q:.. When I start 3D Railroad, it keeps asking for the CD. I've done a full install of the program. Is this supposed to happen?

A:.. Yes, the program will require the CD to be in your CD-ROM drive to start the program. Once the program is running, you may eject the CD.

Q:.. Why does the Macintosh version of 3D Railroad Concept and Design sometimes freeze at the splash screen?

A:.. It's possible that you have an extension conflict going on with your system. One thing you could try is to start your machine with all the extensions turned off and then try to run 3D Railroad. If it works, then you have an extension conflict. Another thing to check; are you running RAM Doubler or Speed Doubler software on your system? Both of these have been known to have an adverse effect on our software.

Q:.. Sometimes, after using 3D Railroad for long periods of time, the program will give me an out of memory error. What's happening?

A:.. If you repeatedly open and close the 3D view, memory can become fragmented after a time. If you receive an out of memory error while running the program, try allocating more memory to the application. Check the Operating System status (under the Apple menu) to see how much free memory you have available after your system boots up with no other programs running. Set the memory allocation to as high a number as is possible. The amount of extra RAM available for this will vary from system to system.

Q:.. When I click on the 3D button to render a 3D scene, I get an error message telling me that the program cannot find some of the textures or 3D objects that are in the layout.

A:.. Chances are that some of the program’s files have been moved after you installed the program. The program’s folder structure must remain as it was when first installed. Moving the application or other file folders to different locations can cause the program to not be able to find the files it needs to run properly. To correct this problem, go into the System\Preferences folder and delete the 3D Railroad preferences file. The program will write a new version of this file the next time you run the program.
